The 1911 carbine was a straight pull bolt action magazine rifle, an excellent design. Regular infantry and artillery units wore this with a steel scabbard, the leather one being only for Pioneer/engineer units. This example has chrome fittings throughout. The blade has been sharpened for field service and there is only minor abrasion to the finish overall. The scabbard leather is in good shape with minor age wear. The walnut grips are in good condition with a small age split to one side. |
