Title Plug bayonet with horn hilt
Nationality Spanish
Period 18th century
Price £400.00

This is a typical 18th-century Spanish weapon, designed to be stuffed down a musket barrel when out on a boar hunt or in a military context. Amazingly, it appears to have most of the original scabbard, with the top chape of pressed tin with a decorative motif. The bottom chape is missing.

The blade is 9.75" long and nearly 1.75" across at the forte. There are some stress splits on the blade near the point, with some grey patina throughout. There is a single worm hole and some damage to the collar of the horn hilt. There is a split in the brass ferrule at the pommel.

My order arrived this morning, thanks for the prompt delivery.

Two excellent original pieces, I must say.

Buckle is in minty condition retaining so much detail esp plummage on eagle's neck and chest, like to see those 'creases' on the legs also... a beautiful example of an early O&C buckle.

Belt is very interesting, rather thin, CROUPON stamped and also behind the tongue...maybe Allegmeine but no SS markings as you state. Beautiful piece none the less.

Thanks for a speedy transaction Chris, I am very happy with my purchase :)

Just to let you know the two propelling pencils, in the form of pistols, have just arrived in the condition you sent them. Thank you very much indeed for your excellent and prompt service, and I will keep a look out on your site for any other pencils you may have for sale in the future.
