This was the classic companion for the Landser (the German squaddie) through all their European and Russian battle tours from 1939-45 and is the development of the S98/84 bayonet from WW1. This example has matching numbers to the scabbard and blade and is clearly maker marked at the scabbard throat and the forte of the blade. It has 95% of its original blue finish on the blade and little or no finish on the rest of the weapon. There are three small spring contact marks on one side of the blade. The frog stud is slightly loose and there is an age bruise on the obverse grip (dark red bakelite). |
