Title By-knife fork for Highland dress dirk
Nationality Scottish
Period c 1820
Price £100.00

This would have been part of a by-knife set from the scabbard of a Scots dirk. Together with a small knife of matching design, the set would have been mounted on the outer face of the scabbard, normally one above the other. The dirk would have been mounted en-suite with a large citrine as a pommel.

Here, the hilt is of bog oak, the nicely carved strapwork with silver studs at the intersections. The pommel is of quartz mounted in a facetted gilt setting within a silver frame. There is a little age shrinkage and minor wear to the wood, also some minimal scatches to the stone. However, all in all, the piece is in exellent shape for its age.

Picked up the dirk this morning and actually waited until I got back home before unwrapping the package. It really exceeded my expectations...whilst the photos were good, to see and feel it in three dimensions was very exciting. A beatutful piece Chris, and worth the wait.

I am just dropping your company a line to say thank you for the 2nd WW Iron Cross, that my brother has purchased off your site Thursday evening. We received it 1st class today and it is in excellent condition. Many thanks again.
