Title Royal Irish Fusiliers shoulder title, 1938 pattern
Nationality British
Period c 1938
Sold

The eagle commemorates the capture of the standard of the French 8th Regiment by the 87th (a former incarnation of the Royal Irish Fusiliers) at the Battle of Barrossa in 1811.

It is a bi-metal badge, the eagle being fitted loosely to the grenade by two brass blades bent over at the back. Its condition is excellent, although there is dried metal polish on the face of the badge.

The package arrived savely today and the piece is absolutely marvellous.

It was a pleasure doing business with you and I'm looking forward to future aquisitions.

I received the item today, you had packed it well and there were no problems with customs. Overall I was happy with it although the blade was a little bit worse than I had imagined, however thank you for your efforts.
