This die-struck gilding metal badge was worn on the service cap and replaced the Royal Flying Corps badge in 1918. It would have been worn from then until the introduction of Stabrite badges in the early 1960s. This badge (4 cm across) could well be a WW2 piece, as it would appear to have silver soldered copper fittings on the reverse as opposed to the earlier versions which tended to have brazed copper lugs. |
