These swords were issued for riot duty and convict escort throughout Britain during the 19th century and even into the early 20th century. This good example has the bulk of its lead polish finish on the blade and was probably made by Parker Field of Holborn, Metropolitan Police armourers, although it is not marked as such. There is some minor patination to the iron hilt and scabbard mounts, but generally it is in excellent shape. The fish skin grip and the leather scabbard are virtually pristine. |
