Title Bronze medallion of 42cm Imperial Austrian mortar
Nationality Austrian
Period 1914-16
Sold

This fine bronze table medal (approx 6cms) commemmorates Baron von Krobatin's service as War Minister, 1914-16. It is signed by the artist (A.HARTIG) on both sides. The reverse shows the 42cm mortar, the largest of the Austrian mortars of WW1. An example of this can be seen in Vienna.

The condition is excellent, the mortar side being slightly crisper with more traces of original gilt finish. The bust of the general has lost some of its gilt and has begun to patinate to a not displeasing colour (perhaps kept uppermost in a case in someone's cabinet).

Just to let you know that the bayonets arrived safely this morning and I am extremely happy! They are everything that I had hoped they would be, but better! I am extremely pleased that i purchased them from you. The 1867 Albini ... is an absolute beauty, the blade is immaculate. The other is in fact in far better condition that I had imagined as well. So all in all, I couldn't be happier! Many thanks Chris.

I very much look forward to doing business with you again in the near future.
