Title WW1 trench art paper knife
Nationality German
Period c 1914-18
Sold

This is a classic shell fragment, which has been fashioned into a paper knife. The hilt shows the groove for the copper driving band, which, interestingly, has a chequered finish, designed to hold the driving band in place while it shot down the bore of the barrel.

It is of German make, but the fragment could be from anywhere, including Allied shells.

The day the blunderbuss arrives I could not stop looking and feeling the gun for at least one hour. My wife told me that I was sick........ I am very happy, it is a piece of craftsmanship! Well made! I have 5 blunderbusses but all iron barrel, also from England but this one is gorgeous with the Brass Barrel.

Please keep me informed when you have any other type of blunderbuss. Thanks my friend!

Found the item a little on the expensive side and a bit disappointed that you were unwilling to bend a bit on the price of the Officer's Tunic Eagle (half the fun of buying, after all, is the haggling), but impressed by the speed of delivery and the quality of the item. Was well worth it in the long run...
