This classic, early Waffen SS/SS VT helmet has no chin strap and is marked ET64 for maker and skull size. These were worn in the Polish and French campaigns in the early part of WW2. It was superceded by the M40, mostly carrying only the SS runes, and ultimately by the M43 with the flared brim. It has Pocher decals. The paintwork is a light feldgrau, most of which is still present, but some 30% of the surface is covered with the remains of a heavy eggshell varnish. More of this could be removed, but it needs some skill with emery paper and a good deal of patience! The lining is a little fragile, being torn in places and one of the tongues being present but detached. |
