This good example has rosewood grips and 90%+ original EPNS finish. These revolvers are classified as obsolete weapons under Section 58 of the Firearms Act. These were typically carried by riverboat gamblers and cowboys/bad men, sherrifs, often as a backup gun for the main weapon such as a Peacemaker. The bore is nice and clean, with a few little patches of inconsequential pitting. The action is tight. There is a little distortion to the foresight. Interestingly enough, as a comment on English society in the late 19th century, this piece has Birmingham proof marks, meaning it was retailed here in the UK and quite possibly carried in the rough and tumble metropolis at the end of the 19th century. It is, of course, a black powder weapon capable of great deterrent effect at close range. |
