This little gilt and enamel gem was produced, no doubt, as a fund raiser for the Roman Catholic church in England in 1925 to commemorate a Jubilee year pilgrimage to Rome. The badge on the front is the crossed keys of St Peter surmounted by the papal triple tiara. The maker's mark on the back is 'THOMAS FATTORINI // HOCKLEY ST. // BIRMINGHAM', a famous enamel badge and order maker still in business today. Its condition is generally excellent, with a little wear to the gilding, and the central portion of the badge measures 3.5cm high. |
