This is perhaps the rarest of all Royal Navy buckles, being only worn by commissioned rank female nursing staff. It is fully hallmarked for London, 1903, together with a maker's mark 'JD'. The dimensions are those of a conventional RN officer's buckle. The condition is excellent, all the relief detail still being nice and sharp. It weighs 60 grammes. These rarely come on the open market, most being handed down within RN nursing circles. |
