Title Prussian Train officer's epaulette
Nationality German
Period 1915-18
Price £25.00

This is an oberleutnant's example (one star). The silver bullion with black silk thread denotes a Prussian unit. The light blue underlay denotes the arm of service, in this case the Military Train (transport corps). The button is of gilding metal, with a gilt rank star.

This type of epaulette was developed for the war time tunics, being easier to remove for cleaning purposes. The earlier examples were stitched into the shoulder of the tunic. This was the pattern that continued in use through WW2, but with a narrower width.

Apart from the remains of an old paper label to the reverse, and some very minor moth scarring, this is in quite good shape.

Chris, arrived yesterday, all is well. It is very refreshing to do business with you.

Found the item a little on the expensive side and a bit disappointed that you were unwilling to bend a bit on the price of the Officer's Tunic Eagle (half the fun of buying, after all, is the haggling), but impressed by the speed of delivery and the quality of the item. Was well worth it in the long run...
