This is a typical Birmingham pistol (no maker's name), with Birmingham proofs on the barrel, the type of weapon that people would have carried for self-protection in the rough and tumble years of mid-Victorian Britain. It would deliver a devastating blow at short range (calibre approximately .50). This is an iron-mounted example with a hidden trigger and a chequered walnut butt, set with an escutcheon. It is mechanically sound. The overall length is 7 3/4 inches. |
