This is a nice example of the Eastern People's award given to German auxilliaries fighting in the East and the Balkans, with its original green ribbon indicating Muslim troops, eg Handchar and Kama SS divisions. The Christian troops in the East (principally Ukrainian elements) who received this medal had a brown ribbon with white edges.
It is made of pot metal with a little patination. There is no maker's mark, as is normal, and it has the concave back which is what you would expect on period pieces. Its condition is fine, with original ribbon and suspension.
