These were authorised in December 1935 as rank insignia to be worn on three types of flight clothing and other protective garments, eg para jump smocks. The bar underneath the wing denoted officer status. They were worn on both upper arms.

This is made of felted wool in two different colours. The conditon is good, never appearing to have been sewn on clothing.
