Title Lovell's pattern spring clip for 1842 series muskets
Nationality British
Period c 1840s
Sold

This is the spring clip for the Lovell's bayonet, which fits under the muzzle cap of the weapon. I know it fits both the carbine and rifle, as I had an 1852 rifled sea service musket with bayonet and this clip could be used on that. This is ex-Eton College armoury.

I have hand cleaned this and it is in perfectly serviceable order, somewhat discoloured with age, as you would expect, ready to mount on a musket. This example has the 'P' bench mark struck clearly on the concave side of the spoon end.

If you want to comment on this item—re quality, age, etc—please email me.

The day the blunderbuss arrives I could not stop looking and feeling the gun for at least one hour. My wife told me that I was sick........ I am very happy, it is a piece of craftsmanship! Well made! I have 5 blunderbusses but all iron barrel, also from England but this one is gorgeous with the Brass Barrel.

Please keep me informed when you have any other type of blunderbuss. Thanks my friend!
