Title Iron Cross, 1st class, 1914
Nationality German
Period c 1914-18
Price £120.00

This is the classic gallantry award for WW1, given when the award of the EK2 was deemed insufficient recognition. Hitler wore one, earned as a despatch runner! This cross is maker marked 'KO', a prolific maker, particularly of 2nd class Iron Crosses.

Sadly, all the black paint has been removed and there is some minor rust patination to the cross. However, all the silver seams are intact and the silver frame shows average wear and tear for an item from this period. The frames on these 1st class Iron Crosses are almost invariably unhallmarked silver, as are the frames for the 2nd class examples. The pin on the reverse has a certain amount of distortion from use over the years and wobbles somewhat at the hinge end.

Just to let you know the gun came this morning. Just as described. Lovely little piece. Would just like to thank you for all the help.

Found the item a little on the expensive side and a bit disappointed that you were unwilling to bend a bit on the price of the Officer's Tunic Eagle (half the fun of buying, after all, is the haggling), but impressed by the speed of delivery and the quality of the item. Was well worth it in the long run...
