Title Iron Cross, 1st class, 1914
Nationality German
Period c 1916-18
Sold

Maker marked 'KO'. KO was a prolific maker, particularly of 2nd class Iron Crosses. I once had a bundle of 30, all in their original packets, stamped KO on the ring and on the packets. This is the classic gallantry award for WW1, given when the award of the EK2 was deemed insufficient recognition. Hitler wore one, earned as a despatch runner!

A nice example with all original paintwork and original case with mock silk lining to lid (made from pressed paper) and dark red-mauve velvet pad on which the medal rests.

Just to let you know that the bayonets arrived safely this morning and I am extremely happy! They are everything that I had hoped they would be, but better! I am extremely pleased that i purchased them from you. The 1867 Albini ... is an absolute beauty, the blade is immaculate. The other is in fact in far better condition that I had imagined as well. So all in all, I couldn't be happier! Many thanks Chris.

I very much look forward to doing business with you again in the near future.
