Title Hussar officer's busby plume
Nationality British
Period c 1900
Sold

This is made of white ostrich feathers, with a white vulture feather base, worn by the 3rd, 7th, 13th, 14th and 19th Hussars. These busbys were worn until the end of full dress, perhaps at the Coronation in 1953.

The little gilt collar on the white element of the plume is still present, although partially hidden by the vulture feathers. The ostrich feathers are slightly soiled with dirt and age, otherwise the condition is excellent for its age. Its tin is in quite good shape, with most of its original black paint, and the original linen plume bag is present.

My order arrived this morning, thanks for the prompt delivery.

Two excellent original pieces, I must say.

Buckle is in minty condition retaining so much detail esp plummage on eagle's neck and chest, like to see those 'creases' on the legs also... a beautiful example of an early O&C buckle.

Belt is very interesting, rather thin, CROUPON stamped and also behind the tongue...maybe Allegmeine but no SS markings as you state. Beautiful piece none the less.

Thanks for a speedy transaction Chris, I am very happy with my purchase :)
