This is made of white ostrich feathers, with a white vulture feather base, worn by the 3rd, 7th, 13th, 14th and 19th Hussars. These busbys were worn until the end of full dress, perhaps at the Coronation in 1953. The little gilt collar on the white element of the plume is still present, although partially hidden by the vulture feathers. The ostrich feathers are slightly soiled with dirt and age, otherwise the condition is excellent for its age. Its tin is in quite good shape, with most of its original black paint, and the original linen plume bag is present. |
