This white metal spike (total length, including screw, is 5.5 inches) was worn in the Victorian period on exercises when the plume was not required and on foreign service. An odd little piece of headdress paraphernalia, but increasingly quite a hard one to find. Its condition is excellent, but there are a couple of insignificant small dents on the ball. The piece would appear to be finished in EPNS, which has a couple of age stains which might polish off. |
