Awarded in silver and bronze to all troops who took part in this peaceful operation, it celebrated the carve-up of the rump of Czechoslovakia in 1938 by Hitler and Mussolini. The image is of Francis II Rakoczi (1676-1735), who led a Hungarian revolt against Habsburg rule 1703-11. He was born at Borsa in present day Slovakia, a suitable local hero! The medal is die struck in bronze. The condition is GVF, with a little corrosion to the reverse. |
