Title 3 silk embroidered postcards & 1 birthday card
Nationality French
Period c 1914-18
Sold

These cards were souvenirs from France, sent by Sapper Len Pettet to his wife Rose or his children Anne and Ted (?). There are various dates in 1917/18 and his name and number are visible in varying degrees on some.

The handwriting is all in pencil, but quite legible, and mostly concerns domestic events. His name is not visible on all, but some personal details are visible on most of them.

The condition is good for their age. However, the whole series (seven in all) had been mounted on board, from which they have been carefully removed, leaving some scars on the reverse as well as remains of the mounting paper. The cards themselves are somewhat foxed, but the silk is in nice, bright order.

(The second photo down has come out too dark - forgive the photographic process.)

Collected bayonet this morning, all safe & sound as described. Been looking for one as good as this for years. Thank you.

I received the silver Verdienstkreuz this morning. Your swiftness and dedication was very much appreciated and, though the envelope arrived with a Post Office sticker saying it had been found open or damaged, the cross was unharmed and looks beautiful. Thanks for your time.
