This holster, which was for the model 1935 high power Browning, would appear to be have been a captured Belgian (or Dutch?) piece - Kriegsmarine and Luftwaffe used this type of holster and, in early photos, I have seen it being worn by German troops during the opening stages of WW2. The name 'Brenner' is inked inside.

The clue to this quite well made modern copy is the rough finish to the edges of the silver frame, showing extensive rough file marks (never found on an original), plus the position of the sharp pin on the reverse (within the diameter of the 'nut' rather than beyond it, as is always the case with originals).

The eagle is a poor quality copy, which, on close examination, shows the characteristic pimpling, evidence of electroform construction, a process used on the originals. The skull is better, but the presence of raised SS runes on the reverse condemns it - the originals never had this detail. Also, the format of the skull eye sockets is incorrect.

The top two items (skull and eagle) are both marked 'SS475/43' and are copies. The bottom eagle, which is a period example, is marked 'SS475/42' (ie 1942). (These items do not belong to me and are not for sale.)

The left-hand example is an original; the right-hand example is a very clever copy of a known woven wool badge, probably made in Pakistan. (These items do not belong to me and are not for sale.)

Generic silver medals (the pink reflection is down to bad lighting!), copiously engraved with the details of the awards (see below). It is rare to find 19th-century boxing medals.

An other ranks helmet plate, which appears to be made of tombak with a nickel-silver finish, and has a painted bear as the centre of the device. This was worn in Berlin between the wars and into the early years of the Third Reich. The condition is average for its age.

A broken example of a fairly rare German railway official's buckle, missing its female portion. There is no maker mark and it is a mid-war production from zinc. Commissioned railway officers wore these, the railways being under quasi-military control in the Third Reich period.

Extremely rare survivor of hitherto unrecorded Austrian ammunition pouch with pike grey canvas body and quality leather strapwork stamped 'KuK'.
