Title Sukkur Police belt buckle from Sindh Province
Nationality British Empire
Period c 1903-48
Price £75.00

This is an other ranks buckle for an Indian policeman in the last 50 odd years of the Raj. It would have been worn on the uniform tunic. Some research would show whether this was one of the paramilitary battalions in this frontier province, or regular local police.

It is of two-piece construction, basically a brass plate with the white metal crown rivetted onto the reverse. 'Sukkur Police' is engraved on the front and then filled in with blacking, most of which still appears intact.

Indian police buckles of this type have only recently begun to surface in the West.

Sword arrived today. Fabulous. This is an excellent example of a fighting sword of its period, and a real gem. The 1828 Pattern is such a gorgeous sword, and this is a fine example. Even my bride is impressed and she doesn’t really get swords.
