This is a good example of the classic early SS buckle, which was worn by all non-commissioned ranks. On copies, the goal post is silver solderered, so note the careful brazing in this case. This is a classic buckle by Overhof & Co, an outfit that survived WW2 and made buckles for the Bundeswehr.
