This is the standard Prussian buckle of the early years of WW1. It has slightly unusual construction, typically associated with Saxon manufacturers such as Aurich. One peculiar aspect is that the central roundel appears to be stamped brass with a nickel silver wash. Normally these centres are solid nickel silver. The brass work shows typical age wear and tear. The nickel plated centre has the brass showing through on the highlights (due to polishing). |
