Title Prussian waist belt clasp, model 1895
Nationality German
Period c 1914
Sold

This is the standard Prussian buckle of the early years of WW1. It has slightly unusual construction, typically associated with Saxon manufacturers such as Aurich. One peculiar aspect is that the central roundel appears to be stamped brass with a nickel silver wash. Normally these centres are solid nickel silver.

The brass work shows typical age wear and tear. The nickel plated centre has the brass showing through on the highlights (due to polishing).

I have in the last six months inherited my late father Alan Swain's police memorabilia collection along with much paperwork receipts etc. I would like to pass on to you my thanks for such good dealership with my father going back to the late 80s and well into the 1990s.

You worked your magic again. The knife arrived this afternoon without any problem. [My husband] is quite delighted with it.
