Title KuK tie pin
Nationality Austrian
Period c 1915
Sold

This splendid tie pin encapsulates the elan and enthusiasm with which the officer class greeted the start of WW1. The reverse has the logo 'Aus Eroberten Kanonen' (taken from captured cannon). It shows the Austrian infantry sword of the period, together with a junior officer's shako.

It measures 7.5cm long. The shako would appear to be in gilding metal with enamel and gilt finish. The sword, being magnetic, is made of iron and has most of its nickel silver finish intact, together with a maker's mark 'J.&L.' as well as 'Ges.Gesch.'

testimonials

Sword arrived today. Fabulous. This is an excellent example of a fighting sword of its period, and a real gem. The 1828 Pattern is such a gorgeous sword, and this is a fine example. Even my bride is impressed and she doesn’t really get swords.

Having received the beautiful medal that has been the subject of many recent phone calls, I am absolutely delighted with it. More importantly, the research you provided into the military backgrounds of all those involved made it all the more poignant. Thank you for your highly professional and friendly help and advice throughout the transaction.
