Title Hussar officer's busby plume
Nationality British
Period c 1900
Sold

I am fairly sure that this is made of osprey feathers, definitely not ostrich, with a black vulture feather base. These busbys were worn until the end of full dress, perhaps at the Coronation in 1953.

The small gilt bomb, which should cover the base of the vulture feathers, is missing, though the little gilt collar on the white element of the plume is still present.

Its condition is excellent for its age, complete with its slightly scruffy tin.
