John Jaques introduced this game in 1866, originally with square corners. This example, I think, is somewhat later because of its slightly rounded corners, although not that much later because a reproduction of a 1930s set shows a fireman with a brass helmet, only introduced into the fire service in the Edwardian era. The pack is complete and the cards are hand coloured. The case is battered and several of the cards suffer from fairly severe creases and one card has a small chunk of a corner missing (see photo) with a few dog-eared corners here and there. However, considering the age of the piece, it is in reasonable condition. The images have appeared on the back of the cards, an aging process of some sort, I suspect. |
