Title Fake Allgemeine SS belt buckle
Nationality Hungary?
Period c 2004

This would appear to be made from the same dies as the now well-known Waffen SS copies with Assmann markings in die-struck steel with silver wash finish. Amost certainly this item comes from Hungary and has Overhoff & Co markings on the reverse. It appears to be made of nickel, but this is not the same material as the genuine article.

The reverse prongs and post have been taken from a genuine combat buckle to confuse the issue. The post has been hand peened, but the originals were always machine peened. Note also the silver soldering to the base of the brass clip. The retail value of the real article is about ?200. (This item does not belong to me and is not for sale.)

My Arisaka arrived at 9.00am. Very prompt delivery and excellent packaging! The blade is superb.. and just what I was after, its in very fine condition and just as you described.. I've referenced it in my copy of Raymond La Bar's book "Bayonets of Japan".

Many thanks, Chris, once again its been a pleasure doing business!

Found the item a little on the expensive side and a bit disappointed that you were unwilling to bend a bit on the price of the Officer's Tunic Eagle (half the fun of buying, after all, is the haggling), but impressed by the speed of delivery and the quality of the item. Was well worth it in the long run...
