Title Afrika Korps web belt with steel buckle
Nationality German
Period 1941
Sold

These web belts were worn throughout the North African and Mediterranean campaigns by all branches of the Wehrmacht in a variety of colours from apple green, light olive to a blue/purple shade for Luftwaffe and Kriegsmarine units. This example is a faded light olive.

The steel buckle is stamped 'CTD 1941' for Christian T Dicke & Co, a prolific maker of army and navy buckles of this era.

It has perhaps 40% of the original light olive paint finish to the face. The belt is a decent length - 105 cm, and though much faded is in good shape apart from the loss of 30% of the leather trim.

Having received the beautiful medal that has been the subject of many recent phone calls, I am absolutely delighted with it. More importantly, the research you provided into the military backgrounds of all those involved made it all the more poignant. Thank you for your highly professional and friendly help and advice throughout the transaction.
