Title Whitney pocket revolver, .32 calibre rimfire
Nationality American
Period c 1871-79
Sold

The Whitneyville Armoury in Connecticut made a total of approximately 30,000 breech-loading pocket revolvers, all of which were in sheath trigger format, rimfire pattern. Production for this model '1.5' was only in .32 cal. and is estimated at some 15,000. They would have been carried either as ladies' weapons or backup for heavier pieces.

It is marked on the top barrel flat 'Whitneyville Armoury CT USA'.

The action is a little soft, especially on full cock. The cylinder and barrel show a fair degree of wear, the former failing to lock up properly. The grips are original, showing minor shrinkage, with a 'birdseye walnut' look. There are matching numbers ('264') on the cylinder and frame. The head of the grip screw is mangled, but all screws and parts would appear to be original. It has a 3.5" barrel.

I have made a very quick inspection of the sword & it fully lives up to your accurate description, very pleased with the purchase.
