Title War & Victory medals to Private W E Jones, MGC
Nationality British
Period c 1920
Sold

This pair is to Private 145911 W E Jones, Machine Gun Corps (ex-Royal Welsh Fusiliers). The Machine Gun Corps served on all fronts in WW1. Private Jones survived the war, according to CWGC. He must have served overseas as the Victory medal was only awarded for foreign service.

The pair is in GVF condition, mounted on short pieces of scruffy but original ribbon. The Victory medal has lost a considerable portion of its lacquer, but otherwise the medals are in excellent shape.

My order arrived this morning, thanks for the prompt delivery.

Two excellent original pieces, I must say.

Buckle is in minty condition retaining so much detail esp plummage on eagle's neck and chest, like to see those 'creases' on the legs also... a beautiful example of an early O&C buckle.

Belt is very interesting, rather thin, CROUPON stamped and also behind the tongue...maybe Allegmeine but no SS markings as you state. Beautiful piece none the less.

Thanks for a speedy transaction Chris, I am very happy with my purchase :)
