Late example in zinc, maker marked (illegible) with short length of original ribbon. This was the basic gallantry award for front line service and anti-partisan combat personnel. This ranks under the Iron Cross, 2nd class, and some 6,500,000 were awarded. (The original bronze finish has been absorbed by the zinc - as you can see!)
