Title Turkish Mauser bayonet, model 1903
Nationality Turkish
Period c 1903
Sold

This clean example is marked in Arabic on the forte of the blade for Weyersberg Kirschbaum & Co of Solingen. The grips are walnut and the Turkish star and crescent and tughra are in evidence on the blade and the pommel. This is the pipe-back version, somewhat rarer than the fullered variety and longer to boot.

The blade is based on the classic G98 German Mauser bayonet. There is substantial evidence of field service sharpening on a grindstone. However, this does not detract from the overall look of the piece, which, for its age, is pretty good. The scabbard seam is intact and the leather has most of its original surface finish.

Hi Chris, just to let you know it arrived safely and I am very happy with it, also the condition. I have been looking for a while for that particular style and maker.. Thanks again for everything and I shall now be keeping an eye on your web page.

Just a short note to let you know that I have collected the Police fur cap this morning from the Post Office. I am really happy with it, and for sure I will give a thumbs-up to your service. This was the first item I ever bought from you, and I hope it will not be the last.
