Title Tailor's Luftwaffe/Heer button card, 'silver' tunic type
Nationality German
Period 1939-45
Sold

Here are 22 zinc-backed tunic buttons of the type commonly worn on Luftwaffe and Heer tunics. The faces are also of zinc, sprayed with a silver wash, a common war time production method. These may well have been worn on a parade tunic, by virtue of the silver wash, or possibly on a combat tunic.

The zinc on the reverse has corroded somewhat, but this could be largely cleaned off with judicious use of a little WD40. The diameter of the buttons is 19mm.

An extra button (at the extreme left of the second row down) is shown in the photo, but will be sold separately, being of a different make.

Sword arrived today. Fabulous. This is an excellent example of a fighting sword of its period, and a real gem. The 1828 Pattern is such a gorgeous sword, and this is a fine example. Even my bride is impressed and she doesn’t really get swords.
