Title Surrey Imperial Yeomanry officer's tunic (cuff) button
Nationality British
Period 1901-11
Sold

This shows Lord Middleton's personal crest surrounded by the regimental title. He raised the regiment in 1901. This unit became Queen Mary's Own SY in 1911, receiving new badges and buttons reflecting the change of title. The tunic was patterned on that of the New South Wale Lancers - khaki with a scarlet plastron.

The reverse is inscribed 'Jennens & Co. London'. It measures 19mm across. The finish is EPNS or just possibly unmarked silver. All first pattern SY badges and buttons are now quite scarce.

Bayonet arrived safe + sound this AM Sat. Special delivery excellent again. Worth the few extra bob. To be honest it was better than I dared hope. I usually avoid polished bits like the plague!! Your price was a bit fierce!! - but a great marking I lacked... Please email me anytime you have anything that might be of interest.
