Title St Helena medal
Nationality French
Period c 1857
Sold

This is the commemorative St Helena medal which Napoleon ordered to be struck and issued to all his veterans on his death. On the reverse is: 'Campagnes de 1792 a 1815' around 'A ses companions de gloire sa derniere pensee St Helene 5 Mai 1821' (the date of his death). A bust of the emperor is on the obverse.

It has a nice chocolate brown patina and what appears to be a piece of watered silk or possibly mercerised cotton ribbon of some age.

The condition is excellent for its age.

testimonials

I received the item today, you had packed it well and there were no problems with customs. Overall I was happy with it although the blade was a little bit worse than I had imagined, however thank you for your efforts.

...the sword arrived safely today... My son, who shares my interest in antique edged weapons and for whom I bought the sword, is delighted.
