Title SS double-etched dress bayonet
Nationality German
Period c 1939
Sold

This is a WKC product, engraved at the forte with the knight's head and Solingen logo. The etching on the blade is deeply cut and has a blued background to both sides. It is marked on one side 'AA1' for the 1st Reconaissance Battalion of the regiment (the latter is not specified). A similar bayonet can be found in Detlev Nieman's bayonet book.

The condition is excellent throughout. However, the scabbard and frog show substantial age wear with some loss of paint to the former, especially on the reverse. The knot can be sold with the item, but it is an accurate modern copy (and is elsewhere on my site).

If you want to comment on this item—re quality, age, etc—please email me.

Excellent information, Chris, you've been making a big effort! I will spell it out more closely (I'm a historian!) and don't think Bezdek can add much more.
