Title Springfield bayonet
Nationality American
Period 1917
Price £0.00
Sold

This is the classic US bayonet for the 'dough boys' of WW1. They were sometimes later issued, together with the rifle, to Home Guard units in WW2 as part of the American Lend Lease programme supporting Britain with arms in the dark days of 1940/1. It is maker marked Remington and dated 1917.

The blade has all its parkerised finish. The scabbard, which is dated 1918, has most of the original green stain to the leather. The mounts have been black painted for service in the field, the bottom mount showing some minor surface rust.
