Title Scots Greys officer's tunic button, 1877 pattern
Nationality Scottish
Period 1912-24
Sold

This is a fine example of the last pattern Scots Greys button. The maker was styled Jennens & Co London between 1912 and 1924, so presumably this button can be quite precisely dated to this period. The eagle, the symbol of the regiment, was captured from the French at Waterloo by Sergeant Ewart in a famous fight.

The gilding is a nice yellow (the colour in the photo of the reverse).

I am wholly delighted with the shako plate. [It] is a wee cracker. It is a real pleasure to have something combining both condition and quality in equal parts, and I simply could not be more pleased.

We did get it. My son was thrilled. Thanks.
