Title Schmidt-Rubin rifle bayonet, 1931 model
Nationality Swiss
Period 1930s
Sold

This bayonet was for the later carbine versions of 1931 and 1942. It was the straight pull bolt action rifle with a ten-round magazine. The cartridge was a 7.5mm rimless variety. These bayonets, like the rifles, were beautifully made.

This has a chrome finish to the hilt mounts, showing some service wear. The walnut grips are somewhat stained and abraded. The blade has multiple edge nicks to both sides and is marked at the forte 'WAFFENFABRIK NEUHAUSEN'. It is complete with its frog in reasonable condition. (Price not as on label.)

Hanger arrived safe and sound 11.30ish today. Very pleased, it's as expected. Your excellent pics make all the difference in terms of confident buying over the net. As a matter of interest, the frog, which as you said is very a/f, is, as you thought, 'spot on'. On closer inspection it is a mk.1 Naval Frog, designated 'for cutlasses'. Date seems around 1860ish give or take.

By the way, I think your site is very user friendly. Seems to work much better than many and up to date, a rarity!!!
