This is the Romanian medal struck in 1941 to commemorate the alliance with Germany against Soviet Russia and on the back it has an inscription relating to the crusade against the oppression of Communism. These were the allies, who, along with the Hungarians, led to the loss of Stalingrad when their supporting flank collapsed. The obverse has a rather splendid art deco motif of a young lady with braided hair, surrounded by a Romanian inscription. The ribbon is heavily soiled, but is at any rate original. The medal is in GVF condition and struck in bronze. |
