Title Royal Irish Fusiliers other ranks' busby bomb
Nationality British
Period c 1881 on
Price £40.00

In 1881 the 87th Prince of Wales Own Royal Irish Fusiliers and the 89th (the Princess Victoria's) Regiment of Foot were amalgamated to form the RIF. The eagle commemorates the capture of the eagle of the 8th French Regiment by the 87th at the battle of Barrosa in 1811.

This is made of gilding metal with copper lugs and is in reasonable shape for its age. It could do with a thorough clean.

Picked up the dirk this morning and actually waited until I got back home before unwrapping the package. It really exceeded my expectations...whilst the photos were good, to see and feel it in three dimensions was very exciting. A beatutful piece Chris, and worth the wait.

The iron cross you sent me came on Saturday morning. Very pleased with the medal.
