Title Remington rolling block bayonet
Nationality German
Period 1868
Sold

This bayonet, engraved 'A. Funcke & Co (?Nov?) 1868', is a German-made export piece, possibly for the Danish army as they were one of the first European nations to adopt the Remington rolling block rifle, which was first produced in 1867 and adopted by Denmark in about 1868. Other countries used this excellent rifle, notably Egypt.

The blade and hilt are both clean. There has been some surface rust to the scabbard, which has now been mostly removed by hand.

Wanted to let you know the items arrived today. Great job on the packing. Too often I buy very expensive and irreplaceable items from the UK and they get sent barely packed to protect them from the various postal services - appreciate you going the extra mile to insure it arrived in the shape it left. Thanks again, look forward to doing business with you in the future. Items were very nice, exactly as offered.
