Title Queen's Westminster Rifle Volunteers helmet plate
Nationality British
Period c 1871-1902
Price £100.00

This was worn on the Home Service helmet, constructed from cork, and, in this case, covered with grey cloth. The crowned portcullis device in the centre is from the arms of the City of Westminster. The QWR, founded in 1860, served with great distinction all through the 20th century's wars.

This is a die-struck, gilding metal badge with most of its original blackened finish. The condition is otherwise excellent apart from one old repair under the crown, where a third lug has possibly been afixed and then removed, altering the design somewhat under the crown.
