The 1st Lanark Rifle Volunteers was raised in the 1860s. This badge is a classic of its type, made of unmarked cast silver which has then been hand finished to produce quite a spectacular result. It would have been worn on a brown leather pouch belt. There is one remaining original securing nut to the reverse.
